None of us know how our story will be told or end. Sometimes it turns out to be something totally different from what we imagined.
Emily and Zane Cunningham have been married for 52 years. Zane was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, and Emily could no longer take care of him. Without knowing who to turn to or ask, a friend mentioned that Cal Turner Rehab and Specialty Care in Scottsville had an opening available.
For more than a year and half, Zane has made a home at Cal Turner. He still recognizes Emily when she visits, and she knows he is glad to see her. The outcome of Zane’s life is not a good one, but Emily holds on to all the positives she has left. Zane listens to music, does activities at the Center and most of all receives the care he needs.
Knowing that he is safe, well taken care of and treated with compassion allows Emily to begin building her life.
Cal Turner Rehab and Specialty Care provides assistance to young adults and adults with disabilities in an effort to improve the quality of life.
Donations can be made through the Foundation which will help to create opportunities for people with disabilities to live more meaningful lives.
